Shatta Wale drags NSA, Akufo-Addo’s daughter in beef with Stonebwoy over Accra Stadium

There is a scheduling conflict between two well-known Ghanaian artists, Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy, who have both announced concerts for December. Shatta Wale’s “Freedom Wave Concert” is planned for December 25th, with a series of pre-events scheduled from December 20th to 24th. Meanwhile, Stonebwoy has set the date for his annual “Bhim Concert” on December 22nd, and both events are slated to take place at the Accra Sports Stadium.

This conflict has led to frustration on Shatta Wale’s part, as he accused Stonebwoy of attempting to sabotage his concert. In a Facebook live video, Shatta Wale also criticized the National Sports Authority (NSA) and its leader, Prof Peter Twumasi, for allowing Stonebwoy’s concert to proceed at the same venue, despite prior agreements.

Shatta Wale’s primary grievance seems to revolve around the set-up schedule for his concert. He claimed that the stadium required three days for set-up before his event on the 25th, as had been initially agreed upon. He argued that the 22nd, 23rd, and 24th of December should have been allocated for set-up, and he accused Stonebwoy of disrupting this schedule.

Moreover, Shatta Wale made allegations against President Nana Akufo-Addo’s daughter, suggesting that she had lobbied on behalf of Stonebwoy to secure the venue for his concert. He questioned her involvement in the matter and expressed frustration over what he perceived as bias in venue allocation.

However, it’s worth noting that the head of the NSA, Prof Twumasi, clarified that neither Shatta Wale nor Stonebwoy had officially booked the Accra Sports Stadium for their concerts at the time of his statement. The situation appears to be driven by conflicting claims, concerns over venue allocation, and misunderstandings among the involved parties.
