Some suspected terrorists have entered Ghana Through Burkina Border

According to intelligence gathered by the Ghana Police, around 11:45 AM on September 27, 2023, it is suspected that individuals believed to be terrorists may have entered Ghana via Fatchu, a community located in the Sissala West District.

The Police Command reported that the incident unfolded when the neighboring Police command in Burkina Faso received information about these suspected terrorists hiding near Fatchu (Ghana). They swiftly moved to apprehend them, but the suspects managed to flee before the police arrived at their hideout.

Upon conducting a thorough search of their hideout, the authorities discovered items including a Ghanaian voter ID card, two mobile phones, an unspecified quantity of ammunition, clothing, and eight bicycles, among other things.

What surprised the Police Command was that an in-depth examination of the suspects’ phones revealed images of individuals dressed in terrorist attire, one of whom closely resembled the man pictured on the Ghanaian voter ID card, identified as ABDULAI IBRAHIM. However, Burkina Faso authorities have identified the person on the Ghanaian voter ID card as DIALLO NOUFOU and have classified him as a suspected terrorist.

Security agencies in Gwollu have been informed of this development and have commenced periodic patrols in and around Fatchu in an effort to apprehend the suspected terrorists. The Police Command has assured the public that they are closely monitoring the situation and will provide updates on any further developments regarding the hideout of these individuals.
